Chronic Male
Yeast Infection: Can Men Really Get a Yeast
Infection?
Chronic male yeast infection is a subject
that is not very well documented. In fact, many women
don't think men can get yeast infection, and many men
would agree. However, this is not the case since men can
have a yeast infection without even realising it. The
symptoms of chronic male yeast infection can include a
reddish rash on the tip or shaft of the penis, a burning
sensation during urination, painful sexual intercourse and
sometimes a whitish/yellowish discharge.
When faced with
such symptoms, chronic male yeast infection does not seem
very appealing, especially to the sufferer. Not only can
the infection become so severe that men cannot stop
itching infected areas which usually include the
genitalia, chronic male yeast infection can be very
irritating and in many cases embarrassing the sufferer.
Moreover, the yeast infection is not just confined to the
male genitalia that can also be found systemically and
orally.
What Are the Causes of Chronic Male Yeast
Infection?
There are
multitude of ways in which one can contract a chronic
male yeast infection which
include:
-
Excessive
Use of Antibiotics: is probably the most common
cause of chronic male yeast infection. This is
because studies show that broad spectrum
antibiotics kill a variety of bacteria including
good bacteria such as Lactobacillus acidophilus
and bifidobacteria. These good bacteria help
maintain a relatively low level of yeast cells in
the body. Therefore, your risk of contracting
chronic male yeast infection is higher if you
have consumed a large amount of antibiotics
especially in a short period of
time.
-
Excessive
alcohol consumption: is probably the second
biggest cause of chronic male yeast infection.
Men's favourite tipple i.e. beer is also very
high in yeast concentration. Drinking copious
amounts of beer can lead to an imbalance in the
body of yeast, overwhelming the immune system and
leading to a chronic male yeast
infection.
-
Transmission through sexual
partner: is probably also a high factor in the
cause of chronic male yeast infection. It is
sometimes the case that a man's partner may not
know that they even had an infection. The yeast
infection can be transmitted through oral sex as
well.
-
Poor
hygiene and lifestyle: those men who are less
likely to keep good hygiene, and do not have a
very healthy lifestyle in terms of diet are more
prone to chronic male yeast
infection.
Chronic male yeast
infection is a culmination of several factors converging
to create an infection. The bottom line is that when
yeast cells in the body are allowed to grow exponentially
due to poor diet, poor hygiene or excessive use of
antibiotics for example a yeast infection is very likely.
Chronic male yeast infection is just as treatable as
female chronic yeast infection, and if you recognise the
symptoms you should certainly visit your Doctor so that
treatment can begin immediately.
